I found this article by excellent as it really describes the importance of having excellent curb appeal for your home. This can be even more important than any updates done on the inside of your home. I have actually experienced having buyers in my car, and we had a list of homes to view. On one of the homes, the front yard, was terrible, but I knew the inside of the home was great, I had actually viewed it. But my buyers decided that due to the bad curb appeal, they did not even want to step one foot inside that home. I hastily had to cancel the appointment.

Curb Appeal does not have to mean only the front yard, but the whole front of the home. Can be paint on the home, the roof, the fascia boards, balcony etc.

In this article they actually state that great curb appeal can increase the home’s value by 20%.


My neighbor across the street has redone his front yard with water saving plants and gorgeous rocks and pathways. It is STUNNING. It not only has great curb appeal, but it also has water conservation value. This is so important for us who live in San Diego. But the thing is, is that a lot of people think that in order to do the water conservation landscaping it requires rocks and cacti – not so………….

Having great curb appeal also helps increase the neighborhood home prices, especially if a number of homes go the extra mile to have their front yards redone.
